Meditation for Engineers
For over a year, I’ve run a “Meditation for Engineers” program in collaboration with engineering leadership. The program consists of workshops, audio recording, and in-person guided meditation sessions twice a month.
The program is designed to help people not traditionally exposed or interested in meditation bring mindfulness into their lives. As someone who struggled in developing my own practice, I strive to create reassuring environments where no one feels discouraged for not already meditating or “not being good at it.” As I regularly tell attendees, “trying to meditate is meditating.” Program content includes:

PDX Meditation Study
In 2017, I conducted a three month study of how mindfulness meditation affects Customer Support employees in the Portland office. I onboarded 40 advisors into the study through a one-hour workshop teaching the basics of a secular mindfulness practice. Participants meditated for 15 minutes a day for the next three months.
The study found a significant increase in positive mood and ability to focus, while lowering participants stress levels and reactivity to negative customer interactions.
